Identity Map Template
Why not have students create an identity map either digitally or on paper?! Encourage students to include all of the aspects that come to mind when they think about who they are, the parts of them that matter the most.
Some would suggest that this is a beginning of year activity, but I see it as an any time activity—especially since our identities are constantly evolving.. and at this point in the school year students may feel more comfortable to share more about who they are, as they’ve been in the space a full semester.
This activity may give you a true idea of how “safe” students truly feel!
Bonus: makes for BEAUTIFUL classroom wall decor! :)
Parts of identity to consider:
Race, Ethnicity, Nationality
Religions, Beliefs, Values
Age, Career Aspirations, Education
Top 5 character strengths, Hobbies
School, Neighborhood, Community, Hometown
Family
Gender, Hair color, Eye color
