HELLO, good people!

I’m Jasmine! I also answer to: Jazz, mama, mommy, mommmyyy, Mrs. Rollins, Miss, Sra. Rollins.

Someone is always calling my name, but the sweet & honorable title of teacher is what led to the creation of jazzrollins.com.

I am a full-time mom,  lifelong educator, coach, thought partner & protector of joy.

Once upon a time, I thought it was “unprofessional” to share stories and parts of my identity and background with my students…

It was during my first year of teaching when I realized that sharing parts of me empowered students to do the same!

Centering student identity & storytelling is how I built an inclusive class community— year after year.

A community where students truly feel they belong.

Teaching is Heartwork

During my time in the classroom I was intentional about ensuring that all students felt seen and heard through establishing a sense of belonging.

Sharing parts of my identity helped to build meaningful connections and trust with students.

Making connections with the learning through storytelling, sharing real-life, relatable experiences empowered students to do the same.

Today, it is my mission to help other teachers create inclusive learning spaces where students thrive.

The stories I’ve shared and the connections I’ve made are what led to my success as a teacher.

Impact with kids is not easy. It’s complex. It’s context specific and requires deep commitments from adults. But it is necessary. For my kids, your kids, OUR kids.

A little more…

Talking about my family brings me joy!

Becoming a mama during my first year of teaching affirmed my role & purpose as an educator…to create and nurture authentic relationships centered on belonging.

My passion for and commitment to building school cultures & classroom spaces that are inclusive and liberating drive my work as an educator & and a mother.

When teachers share parts of who they are with their students, students feel more deeply connected to their learning and their class community.

ON A MISSON

I am on a mission to help other educators create & nurture relationships & spaces centered on belonging. Through sharing stories from teaching and mothering, my hope is that others take their own stories & experiences and use them to drive connection & community in the spaces where they lead.
